Chronicles of a City Chap: New Eyes

In the midst of it all I remain serene and uplifted. I suppose you might be wondering what exactly I am in the midst of? For starters, my body is growing wearying of subzero temperature. We just finished a series of days where it went from 8*F to -35*F [NEGATIVE THIRTY-FIVE BELOW ZERO!] The news stated that across the state you could develop frost bite within 15 mins. On top of that my computer is feeling under the weather. Caramia was born in NYC so she is not used to this weather and abuse. I'll be taking her to the doctor at the end of the week and I am confident she will heal. At any rate, the redeeming factor from these few anomolies have been my kids!

I had such an amazing week with my kids. They were SO happy to have us there. Usually we have the staff members telling us how powerful our production was, how important our message is and how grateful the community is to have us there. On top of the staff supporting us we had the kids, from jump, telling us thank you for coming. I actually saw students rejoicing at the fact that we were at their school. I found myself rediscovering a passion for my work here. The students actually wanted to absorb the information that we had to share with them. Not only were we educating them but entertaining them as well. I feel that a person can benefit the most when they are willing and open. We usually go to school where the students have the "meth'd out" attitude. This means they have had at least 1 Meth program since middle school and they can't take it anymore. So we end up having to prove ourselves to these kids [esp the juniors and seniors]. I am proud to say our track record shows that we win most of them over. But this past week was different. We had a whole week of students who wanted us there and wanted to take in everything that we offered. I had students in my class hanging on my ever word. You could hear a pin drop during key moments in the show. I could not walk down a hall with out a student or teacher expressing their gratitude for us being in their school. I finished the week being extremely satisfied and proud of what I do.

I am going forward with these next 2 months actively present in the moment and focusing on the future. I have some auditions in the works for March. I am also working with my roommate on some vocal and dance sessions. He just came out of some conservatory training. His fresh out of school drive and knowledge will be the kick start I need to get my tail back on track.

I must go and pack. We leaving for Wittenberg, WI tomorrow evening...wherever that is :-)

Passionately Yours ~ Keone The Kid
